The Brow house is unique in its design as it is laid out as a group of structures with various types of circulation including open, covered and enclosed. The design also includes the use of the sun creating both a passive solar home along with a full array of Tesla solar panels providing all the energy required to supply the home. A geothermal heating / cooling system, instant electrical water heater and high energy efficient appliances.
The insulation is another key component in reducing the cost of operating the complex. Walls are insulated with spray foam closed cell insulation with a continuous 2” thick exterior insulation board that encompasses the home for a total wall R value of 40. The roof has an high insulation of R-80. Also incorporated in the roof structure is a live green roof system hosting native plants.
